Eleven score and one year ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty.
Now we are engaged in a great war of ideas, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure.
We gather on the great battle fields of this war: on the home front, in our work places, and recreation, in the hearts and minds of every individual. Many have died in defense of its freedoms. Many freedoms have died and the souls of many walking dead wander about without principle. But we, the living, must fight on to preserve this great vestige of that founding generation, always remembering and planting into our hearts the principles of Liberty and Prosperity upon which this nation is founded, that this nation, under God, shall have new life, and that government of the people, by the people, and for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
