  • Wisdom of the American Founders

A careful analysis of U.S. history reveals that virtually every serious problem now confronting American society can be traced to a departure from the sound principles taught by these great statesmen. ---Jay A. Parry, National Center for Constitutional Studies

    • Union’s Expect Obama Payback - Seek to End Secret Ballots February 23, 2009
Updated Guest Editorial | On Tuesday’s Glenn Beck Show, a discouraging statistic was shown. In 1999, all government spending as a portion of our national GNP was 33%. In 2009, that number stands at 39%. An astonishing number when you consider that the United States produces over $14 trillion in goods and services annually.  If that [...]

  • CANNOT HALF-HEARTEDLY SUPPORT CONSTITUTION

I am not partly for the Constitution, and partly against it; I am wholly for it. I disdain the character of an uncommitted man. I am committed, fully committed to the constitution. And i am committed against everything which, in my judgment, may weaken, endanger, or destroy it. And especially against all extension of executive power; and any attempt to rule the free people of this country by the power and the patronage of the government itself. --- Daniel Webster
  • Liberty Requires Property

The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God, and that there is not a force of law and public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence. Property must be secured, or liberty cannot exist. ---John Adams

I just recently listened again to a talk on the FEE podcast entitled “Self-Governance.” As I was listening the speaker, who is a self-proclaimed anarcho-capitalist, gave Somalia as an example of how anarchy can sometimes be a better option than government. He described a graph where one axis is some “best-to-worst” scale of both optio […]

  • First Duty of Citizens

It is proper to take alarm at the first experiment on our liberties. We hold this prudent jealousy to be the first duty of citizens, and one of the noblest characteristics of the late Revolution. The freemen of America did not wait till usurped power had strengthened itself by exercise, and entangled the question in precedents. They saw all the consequences in the principle, and they avoided the consequences by denying the principle. ---James Madison

Blog Announcement

I have spent the last couple of months trying to figure out what I want to do with my blog. One thing is for sure, I love communicating with the outside world through this medium. I love reading others’ blogs and learning what is up with their lives and what they find important.

In the past, my blog has run the gammut on topics and forms, ranging from political commentary to poetry to quasi-eulogies to near-photographic essays. And I enjoy a lot of that and hope to continue to include those types of items in this website. But there is something much greater that I want to do. I want to make this a reporting site for my involvement in the Prosperity Prime, a portion of the FreeCapitalist Project, especially how it relates to my life personally.

The first step of the Seven Steps to Success in that Prosperity Prime is daily accounting. I intend to use this blog as a daily (or as close to that as I can possibly be) accounting tool. I have wondered how personal to make it and have decided that I will just let that all play out as I go, be it impersonal and esoteric or deeply, embarrassingly personal.

I learned last night, again, that imperfect action is better than perfect inaction, so it is within that frame of mind that I begin afresh with my blog.
